Welcome to the real world!

As of September 29, 2009 I have officially entered the real world. I got a job at Nordstrom in Tysons Corner! I've been wanting to work for Nordstrom for a really long time because they have been around since 1901 and are still doing amazingly well in the fashion/retail industry, they have great benefits and treat their employees well, and they offer tons of growth opportunities within the company. I applied in the cosmetics department hoping to God that they would place me at the Bobbi Brown counter (you know my obsession), but unfortunately they weren't hiring for cosmetics... sooo they put me in Studio which is women's suits and apparel! Honestly, I was a little bummed, but I'm just glad I got hired at all! It took me 4 interviews to finally hear the words, "Congratulations! Welcome to the family!"

I did my 3-day training this past week and it really got me excited to work for them! Yeah, sales isn't the most appealing job in the world, but hey- I wanted a career in fashion and I got it. Even if I have to start from the bottom as a sales associate, I'm just glad that a) I have a job b) it's with a huge company and c) that I will soon be moving on up! I've tested out the sales waters last summer and totally succeeded so I know I'll do well, and hopefully with hard work and focus, I'll be moving up, up and away to LA! :)

Nordstrom is huge on promoting from within so maybe I will be a buyer for them! I've always wanted to be a buyer. And they also have stylist positions so that would be another interesting job. I say all this like I'm gonna stick to apparel. Maybe I will continue my original plan of being a makeup artist at Bobbi Brown! Who knows what the future holds... all I know is that now I am finally in the real world and I will bust my ass if I have to to get to where I want to be. Focus is important, determination is absolute.

Here's to me and my future, which is always in God's hands.
